The Mr. Meeseeks Rule is a special game mechanic unique to the Rick & Morty edition of UNO that adds an exciting twist to gameplay!

How It Works:

1. When a player plays a Mr. Meeseeks card (marked with the distinctive blue character), they activate its special ability by announcing "I'm Mr. Meeseeks, look at me!"

2. The player then gets to look through the discard pile and select any one card they want (except for Wild cards and Wild Draw Four cards).

3. After selecting a card, the player immediately plays it as if it were part of their hand, following all normal rules for that card.

4. If the selected card is an action card (like Skip, Reverse, or Draw Two), its effect is applied normally.

5. This represents how Mr. Meeseeks in the show exists solely to fulfill a single purpose before disappearing.

6. After the Mr. Meeseeks ability is used, game play continues with the next player (unless affected by an action card selected from the discard pile).

This special rule creates a strategic element where players might hold onto their Mr. Meeseeks card until the discard pile contains particularly useful cards, mirroring the "assistance on demand" nature of the characters from the show!

UNO was invented in 1971 by Merle Robbins, a barber from Reading, Ohio. Robbins created the game to resolve a dispute about the rules of Crazy Eights and initially sold copies of UNO from his barbershop.

The game caught the attention of Robert Tezak over Thanksgiving weekend in 1971, who became hooked on it. The following year, Tezak made a deal with Robbins to take over UNO, and International Games was formed to produce and market the card game.

Following decades of massive success, International Games was acquired by Mattel in 1992, and UNO has remained a global phenomenon ever since. According to Mattel, approximately 17 decks are sold every minute worldwide.

Today, UNO is available in more than 80 countries and has expanded to include numerous themed editions featuring popular franchises like Rick & Morty, creating new ways for fans to engage with both the classic card game and their favorite characters.

Setup: Each player is dealt 7 cards, and the remaining cards form a draw pile. The top card is turned over to start the discard pile.

Gameplay: Players take turns placing a card from their hand onto the discard pile. The card must match either the color or the number/symbol of the card on top of the discard pile. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile.

Special Cards:

• Skip Card: When played, the next person in line loses their turn.

• Reverse Card: Reverses the direction of play.

• Draw Two Card: Forces the next player to draw two cards and lose their turn.

• Wild Card: Allows the player to choose any color for the next player to match.

• Wild Draw Four Card: Allows the player to choose any color and forces the next player to draw four cards and lose their turn.

• Mr. Meeseeks Card (Rick & Morty Edition): When played, the player can search through the discard pile and play any one card from it (except Wild cards).

Winning: When a player has only one card left, they must yell "UNO!" If they don't and are caught, they must draw two cards. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round.
