DRAG-U-LA, along with the Munster Koach, was one of two cars on the television show The Munsters designed by prolific show car designer Tom Daniel while working for George Barris and Barris Kustom Industries.

The fibreglass body of DRAG-U-LA was built from a coffin that Richard "Korky" Korkes, Barris's project engineer, was able to purchase from a funeral home in North Hollywood. Korkes said in 2013 that it was illegal to sell a coffin without a death certificate, so he made a deal with the funeral director to pay in cash and have the coffin left outside the rear door to be collected after dark.

The car had a 350HP, 289ci Ford Mustang V-8 engine with a four-speed stick shift. It had two four-barrel carburettors mounted on a Mickey Thompson Ram-Thrust manifold. The carburettors were mounted backwards in an effort to save space and the pull type throttle actuation modified into a pusher type.

The front of the vehicle sported a marble gravestone—supposedly Grandpa Munster's licence plate "from the Old Country"—with the inscription: "Born 1367, Died ?". A "hidden" radiator was topped with a small golden casket. The driver sat in the rear of the vehicle behind the engine, under a plastic bubble.

This car was sold at the closeout auction of the Chicago Historical Antique Automobile Museum in Highland Park, Illinois, in 1985. The original 1966 car was later housed in Planet Hollywood in Atlantic City, New Jersey, before being auctioned off to a private collector.

Coffin Body: The distinctive fibreglass coffin body is authentically recreated in this die-cast model, complete with the metallic gold finish that made the original car so eye-catching.

Gravestone Front: The model features the marble gravestone front with the inscription "Born 1367, Died ?" that served as Grandpa's licence plate from the "Old Country."

Organ Pipe Exhaust: To extend the Gothic motif, the model includes the distinctive organ pipe exhaust systems on both sides of the vehicle, which replaced standard exhaust pipes on the original car.

Spider Hubcaps: Each wheel features the decorative spider hubcaps that adorned the original vehicle, adding to its spooky aesthetic.

Bubble Cockpit: The rear of the vehicle includes the plastic bubble cockpit where Grandpa would sit to drive the vehicle, positioned behind the exposed engine for authentic racing style.

Racing Slicks: The model features the wide rear racing slicks that gave the original Drag-u-la its dragster stance and power.

The Munsters is an American sitcom depicting the home life of a family of benign monsters that aired on CBS from September 24, 1964, to May 12, 1966.

The DRAG-U-LA made its debut in the episode "Hot Rod Herman," where Grandpa built it to win back Herman's car, the Munster Koach, which Herman had lost in a drag race. The distinctive coffin-bodied hot rod became an instant hit with viewers and has since become one of the most recognisable vehicles from television history.

Both the DRAG-U-LA and the Munster Koach were designed by Tom Daniel and built by George Barris, the "King of the Kustomizers," who was also responsible for creating the 1966 Batmobile, the Beverly Hillbillies car, and many other famous television and movie vehicles.

The car was also featured in the film "Munster, Go Home!" (1966), which was released shortly after the series ended, giving fans another chance to see this iconic vehicle in action.
