The Batman television series aired from 1966 to 1968 on ABC and starred Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as his sidekick Robin. The show became a pop culture phenomenon, known for its campy style, colourful characters, and memorable sound effects (POW! BAM! ZONK!).

The series featured a rogues gallery of iconic villains including The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin. Each episode typically ended with a cliffhanger, encouraging viewers to tune in for the next episode - "same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!"

One of the most memorable elements of the show was the Batpole sequence this ornament depicts. When Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson needed to transform into their superhero alter egos, they would slide down poles from Wayne Manor to the Batcave below, emerging in their costumes and ready for action.

To activate the secret entrance, Bruce would press a hidden button concealed within a bust of Shakespeare, causing the bookcase to slide open and reveal two poles - one red and one blue. Bruce would utter the iconic phrase "To the Batpoles!" before he and Dick would slide down.

Through the magic of television, they would transform during their descent, emerging in the Batcave fully dressed in their Batman and Robin costumes. This transformation sequence became one of the most memorable and frequently referenced elements of the show.

The Batcave itself was filled with high-tech equipment including the Batcomputer, Batphone, and various crime-fighting tools. This ornament captures the iconic moment of Batman and Robin in the Batcave, having just descended from the Batpoles, ready to take on whatever villain is threatening Gotham City.

Battery Installation: The ornament requires three (3) AA batteries, which are not included. To install:

1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom or back of the ornament
2. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to open the battery compartment door
3. Insert three AA batteries according to the polarity indicators (+ and -) inside the compartment
4. Replace the battery door and secure with the screw
