Jim Henson (1936-1990) was an American puppeteer, animator and filmmaker best known as the creator of the Muppets. He began developing his puppetry style while still in college, initially producing short segments and commercials before creating characters like Kermit the Frog.

Henson's work reached global audiences through Sesame Street, which he helped bring to life from its earliest years, and The Muppet Show, which became an international television hit throughout the late 1970s and 1980s.
