70s Edition Card Game
(Limited Edition Decades Series)
Mattel's UNO is celebrating 50 Years of Being 'Wild' with this Limited Edition UNO deck that takes us right back to where it all began – 1971!
This Deck is Number 1 in a series of 5 different UNO decks comprising the 'Decades Series', which Mattel plans to release throughout 2021. Each different deck in the series celebrates a different decade from each the last 50 years since that very first iconic UNO Game Deck was first introduced to the world, way back in 1971.
The muted colour scheme of this special edition deck takes the imagination back to the time of discotheques and bellbottoms, complete with a groovy beige background and muted 70s design aesthetic. Never has the game that brings people together for its renowned fast-paced fun and unpredictable twists, ever been so nostalgic!
Game play follows the same rules as the classic UNO game with the aim to be the first player to get rid of all their cards by matching the colour or number with the card put down by your opponent and when a player is down to only one card, they must yell, "UNO!"…dig it! Each of the five different decks in the series is sold separately and is subject to availability.
Features:
- Mark the 50th anniversary of the UNO game with a series celebrating the decades that it's been bringing people together across the card table!
- This '70s box and deck within represents the first decade of the UNO game when the matching card game had just launched -in 1971. Bring one home for your crib!
- When players get down to one card they must yell "UNO!" whether they wore bellbottoms to high school or not. Striking a disco pose is optional.

Brief Game History
Invented in 1971 by barber Merle Robbins in Reading, Ohio the owner and card game enthusiast, who created the game and sold the original version out of his barbershop. Over Thanksgiving weekend in 1971, the game caught the attention of Robert Tezak — owner of a funeral parlor in Joliet — who became hooked. The following year, Tezak made a deal with Robbins to take over UNO, and International Games was formed.
Following decades of massive success, International Games was acquired by Mattel in 1992 and UNO has remained a smash hit ever since. Mattel says that 17 decks are sold every minute as UNO is now available in more than 80 countries around the world.
