Masters of the Universe (MOTU) is a media franchise created by Mattel in 1982, beginning with a line of action figures that spawned an animated television series, comic books, films, and various other merchandise.

The franchise centres on the conflict between the heroic He-Man (the alter ego of Prince Adam) and the evil Skeletor on the planet Eternia. He-Man, who transforms using the Power Sword whilst reciting "By the power of Grayskull... I have the power!", defends Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from Skeletor and his minions.

The original action figure line and the 1983–1985 Filmation animated series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" became iconic touchstones of 1980s pop culture. The franchise has seen multiple revivals over the decades, including the 2002 animated series, Netflix's "Masters of the Universe: Revelation" in 2021, and various toy line relaunches.

Key characters include He-Man's allies like Battle Cat (Cringer's alter ego), Man-At-Arms, Teela, and the Sorceress, as well as Skeletor's evil warriors such as Beast Man, Evil-Lyn, and Trap Jaw. The franchise's enduring popularity has made it a beloved property across multiple generations of fans.

UNO was invented in 1971 by Merle Robbins, a barber from Reading, Ohio. Robbins created the game to resolve a dispute about the rules of Crazy Eights and initially sold copies of UNO from his barbershop.

The game caught the attention of Robert Tezak over Thanksgiving weekend in 1971, who became hooked on it. The following year, Tezak made a deal with Robbins to take over UNO, and International Games was formed to produce and market the card game.

Following decades of massive success, International Games was acquired by Mattel in 1992, and UNO has remained a global phenomenon ever since. According to Mattel, approximately 17 decks are sold every minute worldwide.

Today, UNO is available in more than 80 countries and has expanded to include numerous themed editions featuring popular franchises, including this special Masters of The Universe edition that combines the classic card game with the iconic characters and themes from the beloved 1980s franchise.

Setup: Each player is dealt 7 cards, and the remaining cards form a draw pile. The top card is turned over to start the discard pile.

Gameplay: Players take turns placing a card from their hand onto the discard pile. The card must match either the colour or the number/symbol of the card on top of the discard pile. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile.

Special Cards:

• Skip Card: When played, the next person in line loses their turn.

• Reverse Card: Reverses the direction of play.

• Draw Two Card: Forces the next player to draw two cards and lose their turn.

• Wild Card: Allows the player to choose any colour for the next player to match.

• Wild Draw Four Card: Allows the player to choose any colour and forces the next player to draw four cards and lose their turn.

Masters of The Universe Special Rule: The Power Of Greyskull card gives you the power to make other players draw cards! To use it, the player must hold it above their head and say, "By the power of Greyskull, I have the power!!" All other players then have to draw 3 cards.

Winning: When a player has only one card left, they must yell "UNO!" If they don't and are caught, they must draw two cards. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round.
