The Transformers animated series first aired in 1984, launched as a joint venture between Hasbro and Takara to promote their transforming robot toy lines, with animation production by Sunbow Productions and Toei Animation.

The series follows the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, in their ongoing battle against the Decepticons, led by Megatron, as both factions search for new sources of energy for their war-torn home planet of Cybertron.

The show became a cultural phenomenon throughout the 1980s, spawning an enduring toy line, comic books, films and multiple animated and live-action sequels and reboots that continue to this day.

This complete series box set brings together every episode of the original run, along with a wealth of bonus material for longtime fans and newcomers alike to enjoy the franchise's origins.
